In their plans for economic developpement, most under developed countries but a major emphasis on rapid industrialization. An increase in the number of industrial establishments, however, soon tests at critical points the level of development of the basic infrastructure, notably transportation, electricity, and water supplies, in suchcountries. The purpose of this paper is to examine to the crisis posed by the increasing temps of economic development in the country. The paper is divided into four parts. The fivot consides the nature of available water ressources in Nigeria/ the second examines the pattern of its development in urbans centers in the recent past during the colonial period/ the thived indicates the significance of this water ressource development for the industrial development which has been taking the last decade, and the fourth examines the crisis concerning water supplies in the country. |
